Frequently Asked Questions

Where is your studio located?
Sapphire Studios is located at 413 38th St. Union City, New Jersey.

What kind of equipment do you use?
Canon Mark II 5D Digital Carmera, Elinchrom and Hensel Pro Lighting.

Do you shoot with digital or film?
We only shoot in digital.

Does it cost more to shoot indoor than outdoor?
Yes, because outdoor shooting is considered on location and the time to travel.

Do you retouch all the photographs that I choose?
Retouching is done to each photo that is finalized, according to the photo package you choose. And additional photo retouching is available at an additional cost.

Do you shoot in black & white, sepia and other processes?
All digital shooting, which can be changed to any format by the use of Photoshop software.

Do you have air brushing or digital retouching service?
Retouching is available at $25 per 15 minute intervals and it all depends of how much retouching is needed.

Are there any additional fees that are not included in the pricing?
No.

Where do you usually shoot?
In New Jersey (Hoboken, Downtown Jersey City, Edgewater, Fort Lee, by George Washington Bridge) and in New York (Soho, Chelsea Piers, Village, South Street Seaport, Meat Market District) and in downtown Los Angeles at one of our affiliate studios. Also in Puertor Rico, which I am there about 4 times a year and available at other locations for an additional fee, please contact us for further details.

How far in advance should I call to reserve my photo session?
Please call 4 weeks in advance for portraits and model shoots.

How do I reserve a photo session?
A 50% non-refundable retainer is required to book our services. The balance is due at time of the shoot. If paying by check, please make payment two weeks prior to your photo session.
The deposit guarantees a session with me. Appointments are first come and first serve. If you would like a session without a deposit, this is not a problem but there is no guarantee that I will be able take your photo!

Is there an extra charge for rescheduling the photo session or canceling?
NO, but you must notify the studio or me by emailing or calling two business days otherwise you lose your deposit.

Is the retainer fee applied to the total cost?
Yes.

Do you accept credit card payments?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express and PayPal.

Do you guarantee your work?
Your satisfaction is my first priority. It’s very simple. The digital age has now removed all guesswork and you will have seen your proofs throughout the session and  are certain of your success before you leave the studio.

How much time is allotted for a session?
Sessions are scheduled usually by the half-day, mornings or afternoons. We work in a calm, relaxed, enjoyable environment and never rush.

What should I wear?
A basic parameter, considering from the waist up, primarily bring solids, medium to dark, some with texture and some interesting collars or necklines. If you are not sure, bring it.

Is it possible to meet with the photographer before the session?
While the web is an excellent vehicle to introduce the work of the photographer, you are welcome to make an appointment to visit the studio and meet with Mr. Davila. We are aware that the rapport between the talent and the photographer is a vital ingredient in allowing you to be comfortable, confident ,and successful in your session. Simply call (201) 553 - 1111 or email us at info@sapphirestudios.com to set up an appointment.

Should I be concerned if this is my first session?
A considerable amount of our clients have little or no valuable experience in front of the camera. We clearly understand the importance of your pictures and provide an individual service in a relaxed environment. Your satisfaction with our services is vital, and we therefore always take the necessary time. You should be aware the less experience you have in front of the camera, the more dependent you are upon the skills and abilities of the photographer.
